Pesta Ubin happening 12 Sept to 26 Sept!

Pesta Ubin is happening from 12 Sept 2020 to 26 Sept 2020! This year's theme is "Remembering Pulau Ubin" as we hope to not forget about Pulau Ubin, our last rustic island and offshore village, which lies away from Mainland Singapore. 

Although large crowd gatherings in Pulau Ubin to celebrate the festival is not allowed, let's have this new and exciting opportunity to have a wonderful virtual one instead!

Jalan Jalan @ Ubin!
Pulau Ubin is Singapore’s last kampung (village). Join Syazwan, a descendant of the Pulau Ubin community around as he brings you on a virtual tour LIVE to show you the beauty of Kampung Sungei Durian and Kampung Surau! There are a total of 2 sessions on 12 Sept and 26 Sept.

Colourful Birds! 
Many different wonderful species of birds live on the island of Pulau Ubin! Children can join artist Alpana LIVE as she draws the different birds commonly sighted at Ubin, with focus on Hornbills. Some interesting facts will be shared as the children draw and paint

Ubin History and Heritage Virtual Tour
Join Beng Kiang from Kawan Ubin and Singapore Heritage Society where he will share with you on the history of Pulau Ubin and the many different heritage behind it! It will be conducted in Mandarin/Hokkien (For Current/Former Ubin Residents) and in English (For All).

For Nature Lovers!
From forests to seashores, mangroves to wild gardens. Join NPARKS for a virtual webinar and tour to the revamped kampung houses to Chek Jawa to the Freshwater habitats in Ubin. Come for the first ever, Virtual Ubin Day! – FREE OF CHARGE, ONLINE.

Join Kim Chuah and Ding Li as they share about the birds of Pulau Ubin! They would share about the recent discoveries and the importance of Pulau Ubin bird conservation at the national and international scale.

Outdoor Ethics!
Join Better Trails as they share with you the different outdoor ethics! They will introduce to you the various recreation user induced impacts. You will understand the problems and through the “Leave No Trace” principle, you will be on a more informed better practises you can adopt during their next adventure!

Old Good Time! 
Join NUS where they share and discuss with you about the possibilities of dissolving the natural-cultural dichotomy in frameworks for the restoration and conservation of the island’s physical landscape through fieldwork documentation of four houses in Kampong Sungei Durian and Kampong Surau in eastern Pulau Ubin.

Where are my Mangroves! 
Join NUS where they would share with you about the many ecological and economic benefits of Mangroves, and many people are now interested to restore them and increase their area. Successful mangrove restoration faces many challenges, though a new approach - Ecological Mangrove Restoration - is helping us to overcome these challenges in Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond.
